Privacy Policy

Who we are
Socia ("we", "us") is operated by Socia, [address]. You can contact us at support@socia.vip. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
What we collect
Account details. Your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them.
Profile details. Your first name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or over and show your age), gender, photos, bio, job, languages, interests, what you are looking for, and your answers to profile prompts. Sexual orientation is optional.
Location. If you allow it, we use your device location on your phone to find places and events near you. We also save an approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, on your profile so other members can see how far away you are. Other members never see your exact location, only a distance.
Your activity. Connection and friend requests, messages, plans you create or join, people you block or report, and your saved places and favourites.
Purchases. Premium subscriptions are handled by Apple. We learn only whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
Plans you host. When you are signed in, the plans you host (title, details, place, time, size, price, cover photo and who is going) are saved on our servers and shown to other members so they can find and join them. Hosts can see who is going and mark who arrived.
Deals. When you tap "Get this deal", we record that you took it, so a business can limit a deal to once per member and see how many members used it. Businesses see only that number, not who you are.
Tickets and payouts. If a host charges for a plan, other members can buy a ticket. Payments and host payouts are handled by Stripe. We record that a ticket was bought, the amount and any fee, but we never see your card details. Stripe collects the identity and bank details hosts need to be paid, under its own privacy policy.
Why we use it
- To run Socia: create your profile, show you people, plans and places, and let you message.
- To keep people safe: handle reports and blocks, and detect abuse and scams.
- To provide Premium features you have paid for.
- To meet our legal obligations.
If you are in the UK or EU, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in keeping Socia safe, your consent (for sensitive details such as sexual orientation and for location), and legal obligations.
Our website and waitlist
If you join our waitlist on our website, we collect your email address so we can tell you when Socia launches. You can ask us to remove it at any time. Our website doesn't use cookies, advertising or analytics.
Who we share it with
- Other members. They see your profile: name, age, photos, bio, interests, distance, and anything else you add. They don't see your email or exact location.
- Service providers that help us run Socia: Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage), Apple (sign-in, subscriptions and Maps), Stripe (ticket payments and host payouts), Google (if you sign in with Google), and Ticketmaster (we send an approximate area to show nearby events), and Wikimedia Commons (when you open a venue, we send the venue's location, not yours, to show openly licensed photos).
- Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
We don't sell your personal information. Sponsored cards in the app are paid for by local businesses and are clearly labelled. We choose which ones to show using your approximate area on your phone, and we don't give advertisers your personal information or track you across other apps or websites.
Where it is stored
Our service providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account in the app, we delete your profile, photos, messages and activity. We may keep limited records of reports and safety actions for as long as needed to keep Socia safe or to meet legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your information, object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw consent. You can edit your profile in the app and delete your account in Profile > Delete account. For anything else, contact support@socia.vip. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Socia is only for people aged 18 or over. We delete accounts we believe belong to someone younger.
Security
We use encrypted connections, store your sign-in securely on your device, and restrict access to your data. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password and be careful about what you share with other members.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we will tell you in the app.
